Stock characters |
Our main influences are an Asian game show known as BR which is the reasons for the film cover in the bottom left, Saw, and the sequel Hunger Games. This is as similar to our film (trailer), they are based on a game. Saw is a ruthless game where you don't really have an option/choice you just play to survive and it is really gorey similar to the way we want our film to be. Also in the Hunger games it's like a free for all where you fight for yourself to live, similar to our film where families fight for themselves as a family against other families and at some points try and help others and some individuals are ruthless and do it for themselves despite friendships and relationships.

The stock characters in our film would be anyone as we need anyone who is part of a family which can be anyone.
However we want relations between all of our stock characters, and they have to be related with two or more of each other. This is as our film is family based so we would like our stock characters to be of the same family (e.g. twins and their mum, or a brother and sister or both grandparents, etc.) |
LIGHTINGWe aim to have mainly dark lighting through the course of the film with minimal lighting through the use of lamps, candles etc. Lighting will symbolize hope, and as hope rises so would the lighting.

NVCThe NVC would show the stress of our characters and the pain and struggle they are going through whilst being in the game/show. There will be tears and more pain from the mother and female characters being physically weaker than the males.

As our film is a game show/ game, which carries out different activities for it's different stages, we felt like we should shot our film in various locations, however always coming back to the sophisticated meeting room or normal room like a church or in a modern front room or something which is sophisticated.
Whereas, the different activities for the different stages, will take place in locations like a park similar to the hunger games, an abandoned hospital and other places where people may face their fears. One idea would be to leave people in different environments which they fear which the knowledge will come at the start of the game show as they list their fears! |
Props and costumes we were interested in using for the characters was either ripped and worn out clothes showing the excessive use and lack of wealth to afford new ones. An alternative of this would be to have them all dressed in the same attire like prison wear. The host(s)/bosses of the game show (involved parties who aren't participating) would be formally dressed in smart shoes/heels and a suit/dress. Weapons would be provided to the characters like guns and knives and axes and other weapons which would produce and add to the gore when used as the characters fight against each other. The antagonist's face would be hidden until revealed in his own scene alone. Props such as phones may also be used as they need to call for help!

Our antagonist being the host of the game is a man. We have decided that the man would be masked hiding his true identity, showing not all is as it seems. We especially like the mask in Saw and Scream and like he look of the clown. We want our mask not to be threatening or showing death or incurring immediate fear, we would rather it seem normal or a bit creepy but nothing too major.

Our protagonist is a father who is now jobless, but still does whatever he has in his power to provide and be their for his family. He is hardworking, loving, and a good family man.

Being a game host, our antagonists acts normal and seems normal, as the game isn't as jolly as he sets it out to be. Therefore he doesn't present himself as a murderer, but is more disguised in a formal, more presentable look, wearing a suit and smart shoes. Similarly, he doesn't walk around with an obvious weapon.

Our Antagonist being the game host, has a walking stick which is a cover up for a knife. He is not actively commiting these acts, but is the commander, and more like a Hitler, calling the shots letting them know it's a kill or be killed game. We decided to incorporate the circles on the cheek of the saw mask and add it to our mask to make it look more conniving.

Some of the stock characters are a part of the main family, and the others are from the other families.
These include a teen who is a Geek. With stationary as weapons. A conniving devious girl! Who looks sweet and innocent but is dangerous. Another families father who is also in the game. A cool teenager like a jock, who is with the trend, popular and very well built. |
As we wanted our film to be unique and differ from other films which are game shows, we decided to have a different range of weapons rather than just large sharp knives and swords and guns. We decided that our weapons will be things which families and people use on a day to day basis which are not necessarily deemed dangerous such as;
